1993 Geo Prizm "check engine" light came on

There should be a diagnostic connector in the engine compartment, usually on the shock tower. Jump Te1 and E1 and the check engine light will flash the code i.E flash, flashflash. Pause flash is code 31.
Turn the ign. On to test. Do not start the engine.

OBDII was not universally used until 1996, although some 1995's have it.

Just a note, there were scanners made for OBDI cars, they are hard to find and were usually specific to the manufacturer.
