Noises problem
1995 Geo Metro 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

when you start the car it makes a terrible racket and when you drive it it will run for a while then it will just stop. After it stops it takes 2-3 days before it will start again. The car is in good condition but the trouble started about 2 weeks after we had the bearings replaced on both sides. About the time the trouble started the AC went out as well

Hi there,

Can you be a bit more specific about the noise, as I will need to have some idea as to where it is, any more information you can supply will be great.

Hi there,

Start with taking off the A/C drive belt and if the noise is gone it will be in the idler or the compressor bearings, do this next.

It is kind of a tight squeze into the area where the pulleys and belt is. When I crank it up as far as I can tell all of the pulleys are moving. There is no belt diagram under the hood like there should be. It is all connected by one belt can I still take it off of the ac compressor?

Hi there,

There will be individual belts, so you should be able to remove the A/C belt I would remove one at a time and run the engine to see if the noise has gone. That way you will be able to isolate the section causing you a problem, unfortunately there is no pic available to post to assist you with this.

Looked at the belts could only find one belt holding everything together. If I take belt off car does not run. When you start it the ac compressor rattles around quite a bit

Hi there,

You have what is called a serpentine belt, if the comp is faulty it will have to be replaced check the idler bearings and make sure the comp is tight om its mounts as well.

Where do I find the idler bearings. And if the comp has to be replaced can this be the source of the reason why it is stopping on me? One of my buddies said he thought that it might be the fuel pump as well.
