Electrical problem
1995 Geo Metro

My radiator fan does not seem to be working right, as it does not start spinning when I start my engine.

The radiator fan will rotate when connected directly to the battery or when I disconnect the fan switch.

I saw an answer to a similar question which said to check for a faulty radiator cap, but the cap feels like it is snug and secure, so I followed the hose leading from the cap and it is connected to the coolant resevior, however the resevior is cracked near the top above the fill line (from a recent accident I assume).

Check the fan relay, coolant temperature sensor and also the computer control of the relay.

Thanks for the quick turn-around for the answer!

I checked the fan relay by switching it with like spec'ed relays for other features (Lights 1 and Lights 2) and the lights and fan behavior is consistant no matter which relay is placed where.

The fan switch I disconnected is located at the end of the radiator hose where it enter the engine (unser the distributor), I think that is the coolant temp switch, is that the same as the sensor? Anyway, when I disconnect it the fan starts right up.

I haven't come across any relay computer control for the Geo Metro 3 cyl. But I willl do some research in that direction.
