The gas light just came on and car has a full tank of gas. The needle on the gage is moving continuously. Engine is running fine, but now it won't move. Was fine until 30 minutes ago.

It sounds like either the rehostat is going bad, or there is a wiring issue to the sending unit. When you say it won't go at all, do you mean the gauge or the car?

Well it is actually driving fine. In the state of panic my daughter didn't get it in gear apparently. But the gas light is coming on and going off and the gauge the finger is bouncing back and forth. She has a full tank of gas though. We are thinking that it is some sort of sensor. Any suggestions?

Most likely it's the rheostat on the fuel pump. That is what sends the level signal to the gauge.

It was the fuel pump and filter. They were both original to the car! $420 later and she's back on the road again. Thanks for your help.
