I have a 1999 Ford Windstar and the battery went dead last week and I bought a new one but the battery light came on still and died again a few hours later. So I replaced the cables and the ground wire. That still didn't work so I replaced the alternator. That didn't work either it will run for a few minutes after charging the battery but will not hold a charge off a jump start.

First I would check the Power distribution box under the hood. This box has fuses and relays in it. Don't confuse it with the fuse box in the dash. But check the one in the dash as well.
Look for a blown fuse. If the fuses are good, then check the wires that go from the alternator to the starter relay. There is a fusable link in it. It may not be obvious where it is. Check it out with an ohmmeter.

Good luck.

Let me know how it turns out.
