What causes knocking in the engine and what needed to repair it

Ok this can be caused buy a number of things. First is the oil level correct? How does the knock sound is it a light tapping type knock or a deep lower knock? If it is a lower knock then you will need to replace or rebuild the engine. Let me know what you can and we will go from there.
