1999 Ford Windstar smoke from tail pipe

I am looking at purchasing a 99 windstar. The woman told me that the check engine light has been on for awhile had it to the garage and nothing was wrong. She told me the water pump was replaced 2 wks ago but now she notices smoke from the tail pipe. What could be causing this and how much do you think it would be to fix the problem?? Do you think the vehicle would be a good purchase??

what is the check engine light code that is being stored? post it back here.

and what do they want for the vehicle?

She didnt mention and I didnt think to ask b/c I dont know much about cars

Also when goin around a turn occasionally the door ajar light will come on but none of the doors are open. Perhaps its a sensor thing with the light??

1500.00 neg depending she said how much repairs would be for the car. She is looking to part with the van asap.
