Drive Train Axles Bearings problem
1997 Ford Windstar
----------------------------------------------------------------
My automatic tramsmission won't shift. I can drive by putting it manually into 2nd or 1st and then shifting up into drive. But as soon as I slow down or come to a stop the transmission won't engage, and I have to do the whole manual process over again. And as far as reverse goes...forget it, no chance of going backwards. It wasn't initially this bad but has gotten worse.

When I put the vehicle in drive I feel it go into gear but then it will not engage. The mechanic I took it to said it sounded like the transmission pump was out. Any thoughts on this one?

Hi there,

If the transmission oil pump was faulty, you would go no where, i feel it is a problem in the valve body of the transmission and you should see a transmission specialist to get this diagnosed as soon as you can.
