I changed a few sensors on my van and then had no power so I left one new sensor in and put one of the old ones back in then unpluged the mass air flow sensor and the van had power again while the check engine light went off then back on again. Then the other day I had black carbon coming out of the tailpipe with a very strong gas smell and the gas needle dropped. Any ideas please help

Two questions. First, what sensors were you working with? Next, have you rescanned the computer for codes?

The sensor I replaced was O2 sensor bank 1 sensor 1. Then bank 2 sensor 1 I replaced but didn't make diff. So I took it out and put old one back in. I replaced #3 injector and spark plug #3 which fixed the gas problem. Then the light went off then back on. Then I did oil change and put injector cleaner in gas tank. I still don't have the power I should Have and runs ruff. I had computer reset light went off then on its still on.
