Have a 1969 Ford F-100 truck with a 4.9L 300 CID and I wanted to know what the timing needs to be set at and how to time it.

Thetiming is set at 10 degrees BTDC. There is a mark on the harmonic balancer and another on the timing cover that goes by acouple of degree at a time. It wil be marked 0 and probably 10 and so on. Disconnect the vacuum line to the distributor, loosen the bolt on the clamp and turn the distributor to time it. Of coulrse you must use a timing light connected to #1 cylinder.
