1966 Ford Truck

I hooked up my battery terminal wrong. Smoke started to appear from the alternator before I fugured it out a disconnected it. I reconnected them properly and the truck started. I drove it several blocks and the parked it for about 4 hours. The battery was dead and resisted charging, so I unhooked the positive terminal and it took the charge and started the truck. However headlights were dim and dash lights did not work. It drove for about 10 minutes and stopped, leaving the truck running while I opened the garage door, Then I tried to drive in, the motor died as soon as I gave it some gas. I figure I will need a need a new alternator and regulator and not sure about the dash lights (hopefully just a fuse)
