Electrical problem
1960 Ford Truck V8 Two Wheel Drive Manual

I have a 1955 Two ton farm truck. It appears to have an 8 volt battery in it. The battery has four cells.
Will it hurt to put in a 12 volt battery?

the reason an 8 volt battery was put in the truck was to make the 6 volt system try to start better. If you put a 12 volt battery in it, everything electrical will burn up in it. Unless you go through the exspense of buying an adapter for the battery. they used to be available and i'd think they still would be. that way you woul d start on 12 and run the vehicle on 6 like it was supposed to. Otherwise you'll have to go through the exspense of changing all your electrical over to 12 volt......
