Does the altenator and drive belt operate the the radiator fan and the power steering unit? I have no power steering and the engine heats quickly. Could it be the altenator, fan switch or belt?Where is the fan switch located. Thanks

-No it's doesn't drive the radiator fan. That is controlled electronically by a thermostat to kick the fan on and off. Your quick heating and lack of power steering sounds like either your serpentine belt is either slipping badly or broken. The serpentine belt drives the alternator, water pump, power steering pump, and A/C pump if equipped. Check to see if your belt is there, and if it is, see if it is on all of the pulleys.
