This Question is for my friends mom shes slightly computer illiterate. Yesterday was extremely hot and my friends car began to overheat, she didnt travel far in it. . Her concern is all the times at night her daughter sits in her car with it on, with the radio on, could this affect it. Is it overheating because of this or is it another problem?

sitting in it at night, for whatever reason will not cause the vehicle to overheat.

i would suspect the problem is a low coolant level, or a bad thermostat, those are the most common problems with overheating.

it might also be that its time for a cooling system flush.

in rarer cases the water pump may not be functioning properly, the cooling fan may not be coming on, there may be a bad headgasket, or the ignition timing is off.
