2006 ford taurus....has been running great...then two days ago stopped at store, came out and would not start...these are the things that are happening
guages are chittering and vibrating...have full electrical power on dash, idiot lights, odometer, radio, etc. when i turn ignition to start position i get clicking sound from cylinderical shaped object attached to front of motor (3/4 from top)connected to battery...cleaned battery terminals...first three times the car finally started after about 15 to 20 minutes of trying. now it will not, what is this object and can i easily replace it?

1st step is to check the battery and make sure its fully charged and holding the charge
try and get a jump if that get you going suspect the battery and or terminal
also start engine and check charging system
and alternator volts
it should be above 13.5 volts
