After locating the anti-freeze leak from a very cracked COOLANT FLUID RESERVOIR in a 2002 Ford Taurus 6 cyl, I replaced the RESERVOIR. filled the anti-freeze levels and have no more leaks.

There were never any overheating problems. Not before and not now.

But, since I did this reservoir replacment the car has very little heat coming thru the vents and defrost.

So, the car doesn't overheat. The vent fans blow strong but, it can barely defrost the windsheild.

I might add that in my ignorance, I disconnected two "lower hoses" and drained them before I realized that the coolant reservoir could be changed
from the top. I reconnected eveything nice and tight and proceeded to change the reservoir from the top.
Is it possible I created an Air lock problem with those lower hoses? What do you suggest?
Thanks,
Dennis

SOUNDS to me like you have air trapped in the system! easy fix.

get a pair of ramps or a few jacks and stands and jack up the frong end of the vehicle untill the radiator fill port on the radiator is the highest part of the engine compart ment then start the vehicle and run it at about 2000 rpm's after its warm slowly poor coolant directly into the radiator untill it stops bubbling and going down, that shoudl fix it. shake and squeaze the hoses also.
