Heater problem
2002 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have very liitle heat we changed the thermostat but that wasn't it then we had it checked for the heater core that wasn't it. Then we were told it was the vent door was stuck open but that wasn't either. Now we are lost. What else can we check. It is getting really cold outside.

Check coolant level to ensure it is at proper level.

You said you had the heater core checked, did they also check the heater control valve? If not then it could be sticking causing your heating issues.

I just looked at another site and it states that ford taurus's don't have a heater control valve

Your water pump could be failing. Is there any signs of leaks by the pump or any noises from it?

Possible heater control cable as well.

Sorry, I did forget that Ford does not encorporate the heater valve in Taurus.

Check the heat control motor in top of heater box behind dash. controls flap in the heater box. 2 screws may be hard to get out.will have wires going to it.dealer item only. if you remove it make sure you engage the tang on the flap when you put it back together.
