2002 Ford Taurus starting problems

Hi, my daughter's 2002 Ford Taurus has approx. 92,000 miles on it and lately has had trouble starting up. She says it takes a long time to start it and is getting worse. Yesterday she took the advice of someone and took the car to Sears to have the battery checked. It checked out as somewhat bad so she replaced the battery with a new one.

That apparently wasn't the problem as imediately she started it and it still is happenening. This morning she started it and says its getting worse.

What are the possibilities?

If it is having a hard time cranking, check the starter, if it is having a hard time starting (engine running) check the fuel pump. Please get back to me and let me know, thanks for the donation. :D

Hello Ken, Thanks for your reply and your welcome on the Donation. Thanks for providing such a great service here! :lol:

The starter and altenator checked out fine, so I guess we are really looking into the whole fuel system. She decided to take it to the dealership to have the scan run on it.

I will check back here later with the results.

Hello all, The Dealership put it on the scanner and it read that the STARTER was indeed bad. My daughter had a rebuilt starter put in less than a year ago and since she has had it she has had it checked out 2 times and both times it checked out fine.

Can you believe that? Feeling like your totally ripped off.

Well she had the dealership replace the starter and it works fine now, no hard starting. I told her to take the old starter back where she bought it and demand her money back.
