2002 Ford Taurus fuel level sensor

I have a 2002 ford taurus witha flex fuel engine, and my check engine light came on and I rn the test and it said that the fuel level sensor is bad and it is because I cant read my fuel gauge anymore, my question is in this car is the sensor in the fuel tank or is it on the side of it or accessible from the truck like some cars?

I have 2000 Ford Taurus SE FFV.
In my car fuel level sensor known as fuel sending
unit located inside the fuel tank under the car.
It is a big problem to change the sending unit because you need to empty your fuel tank.
In the shop thise work cost more than $300.
