Engine will start when cold but when you run it for awhile then stop then try to restart it gruts and it fires very slowly if it starts at all. Had battery checked under load and it was ok. What else could it be?

When you say it fires very slowly, do you mean the starter turns slowly or the engine is hard to start?

If the starter is turning slowly and the battery is good, either you have a weak connection to the starter or weak ground to the engine block, or the starter is drawing too many amps from the battery due to internal problems.

Take the vehicle to a nationally recognized parts store and have them check how many amps the starter draws. Most will do it for free.

Let me know what you find.
