I bought a used taurus for my daughter. She says when sitting at a light the car sometimes surges a bit, kinda like its going to stall but engine compensates a little to much. My job has a huge fleet vehicle maintenence section and one of the mechanics suggested more tham likely its the idle air control valve and to replace it. Does this sound right?
He used to work at a ford dealership and had expirience with fords. Being that I am not a mechanic is it pretty simple to install? You guys sound pretty darn good at what you do and would appreciate any help.

IAC valve is a very common issue
very easy to remove and check ,clean or replace
also check for vacuum leaks
check PCV valve and it hose ,hose crack and create a vacuum leak
