The fuel pump seems like it is locked in somehow and we can't get it to come off. Do we turn it, press on something to unlock it, any special trick to getting it to release?

the fuel pump module should come up if you have disconnected the wiring, fuel lines and removed the retainer ring. may just be stuck , try twisting it a little back and forth then lifting up.
