1998 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

My daughter has a 98 ford taurus. The car is flex fuel type 2, the fuel filter has gone out. Can it be replaced with a type U fuel filter. She does not run flex fuel in the car

Welcome to the site. Can you give us the vin, vehicle identification number?

I looked at an online partsbook, 3.0--overhead valve, 3.O--overhead cam and 3.4--overhead cam. The book showed the same part number for all three, but, did ask for the vin number, which I don't have.

Napa shows the same part number for U and 2, should be the same part.
