Engine Mechanical problem
1998 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 105k miles

I have the 3.0 L V-6 1998 Taurus GL with around 105k miles. The car will turn over all day long. I have spark at the plugs. I can feel the fuel injectors "ticking". If I depress the Schrader valve on the fuel rail after attempting to start it there will be a small dribble of fuel. I do not own a fuel pressure gauge. I have tried to air it out for flooding. I have checked the inertia switch. I swapped out the Throttle position sensor with no luck. The voltage at the Idle Air Control Valve is 11.4vdc which is correct. I have had 2 occasions where the car would over idle on its own. I know that points to the IAC Valve. I have tried to fully depress the pedal and start the vehicle whihc apparently would also point to the IAC? Either way that does not work. Initially if I used starter fluid in the air intake it would start and run. This worked for a day. After that I was driving at one point, about 50mph, and hitting the gas pedal would not cause the engine to respond. After that I stopped at a parking lot and the car began to lug really hard in nuetral going between 300-600 rpms before finnaly dying. Hitting the gas did not do anything. If I used starting fluid to get it going after that it would do the same or if I hit the gas at all it would stall immediately. I have a reader and there are no codes. I cannot afford to swap parts till I get it. Please advise me if you have any ideas. I have a nice multimeter so I can check resistance or voltage if that will help to diagnose. Thanks much.
