Engine Performance problem
1998 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

My 98 Taurus started missing and the ck. Engine light came on, so I eased it home but could barely drive it into the garage. I checked it with a scanner, the code 0304, #4 misfire came up. I replaced the plugs no change, I ohms checked the wires, all had 8,000 ohms of resistance. What's next? The coil pack is around $100, is there anyway to test the coil first? The car is just a piece I drive back and forth to work, I don't want to spend much on it. Can you help?

Hi jeffery, yes disconnect the no 4 spark plug from the coil pack check for spark between coil and plug wire. If spark coil is good. If not bad. Check spark at the plug end as well. If spark there. Check compression. You can also test coil with ohms meter as well. However this way will work. You can buy a used one pretty cheap. Good luck billy mac please VOTE. IT MEANS ALOT TO US.
