Engine Mechanical problem
1997 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Hello, Im thinking about purchasing this car (see following description) Could you please give me a ballpark estimate of what it would cost me with parts AND labor to have a blown head gasket repaired in this vehicle?

This is the description:

1997 Ford Taurus. Not Running. Blown Head Gasket. Everything worked when it was running. Power windows, mirrors, driver seat, brakes, stearing, air conditioning/heater, am/fm casset, keyless entry. White with gray interior.

Any advice?

Thank you very much,
John

Honestly you would be better off finding a used Honda.Depending on mileage, the engines in those crack cylinder heads, the transmissions are so-so at best. They have quite a few problems. You could potentially be loooking at upwards of 1700 to fix it if the heads are cracked. Then you still dont know what damage was done to the bottom end of the engine from being overheated and or Hydro-statically locked (does the engine turn over?) This vehicle would have to be extremely cheap to consider buying it(like a few hundred dollars)
