1996 Ford Taurus taurus doesn't start

earlier today my 96 taurus decided to not start. it won't turn over. it clicks only once. the battery and alternator are fine though. i got it to start once about 2 hours later but after i turned it off it won't start again

Click once !
Does the light go out and then return ?
Remove battery terminals check ,clean and re tighten
check starter S terminal wire (small wire )
if have power when ignition in start position and engine not cranking ,suspect bad starter
