Electrical problem
1996 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic
----------------------------------------------------------------
I'm having problems with the radio in this car. When i put it into reverse the radio quits working and the automatic antenna lowers. then i put it into drive and starts working again. I am pretty sure it is a short somewhere in the electrical but since im not inclined in that department is there any suggestions you could help me with to remedy this. thankyou

I have seen the Transmission Range sensor cause this once or twice. It becomes a ground issue more or less, but can usually be trace back to the TR sensor. Have it checket out, or try unplugging the sensor on top of the trans and see if the radio still cuts out. ***WARNING*** the trans will shift hard and the check engine light will come on. Once you plug it back in though it will start shifting normal, but the light will still be on. It will answer the question as to if that is the culprit, and then we can go from there. Post back your answer and let us kknow what you find.
