A few days ago my girlfriend came home from work and noticed on the way home that all of the lights inside of the car were on, (dome, doors). When she got home I asked her if she did anything different, and she said no. I asked her if she opened up the doors and maybe didn't shut them, and she said maybe, so I went out and slammed all 4 doors to make sure that they were all shut properly. The lights were still on.
My brother sprayed some kind of lubrication spray into the door latches to make sure that none of them were stuck, and the lights still stayed on.
Now, every time that we turn the headlights on, we get the dinging sound that you usually get when you shut the car off and and accidentally leave the headlights on too.
What could be causing these two problems?
By the way, I removed all of the bulbs from the interior and we're driving at night with the noise from the headlights until we can get it looked at or figure out what the problem is.
Any help here would be MUCH appreciated.
Thank you.

First check each door switch. there should be a screw that holds the switch in. Remove it and take switch out and check to see if there is a crossed wire. The way I am thinking is that you say when you turn the headlights on the dinging starts. disconnect the fuse for the dome lights. See if this continues. It sounds like the problem may be in the headlight switch. Have you checked the dimmer control for the lights making sure it is not turned all the way for the interior lights to be on? It it continues the problem could be in the headlight switch , from a bad switch or a wire crossing causing the problem.
