1994 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 160K miles

I have acquired an wiring diagram of the oil pressure switch circuit and it appears that the circuit goes directly to the instrument cluster, so I have to assume that there is a break or short between the pressure switch and the instrument cluster, which causes my oil light to malfunction.

Hello and thanks for donating

A faulty oil pressure switch itself can also cause the oil pressure warning lamp to remain on. That is assuming that the oil pressure is not actually low. May want to test the switch first, much easier than tracing wires.

Thanks bluelitnin6 for your reply. I have discussed this problem with more than one of your colleagues and this is only part of a long story and process which has included installing not one but two new switches thinking that the first new one that I got was defective. Your organization, as a whole, is very good to rely on to get some answers during the course of a repair, but the dialogue to completion should be with the same tech which I have not been able to accomplish and it leads to answering separate questions as the repair goes on and a result is another tech gets in, which leads to more confusion. I don't know what your quals are, but if you would like to hear the whole story up to the point of where my oil light won't go out I will be happy to start over, if you think you can stand it because, I am at my wits end with thing. Regards. Bob

The best way to stay in the same conversation is to click "reply" instead of creating new posts. Once a new post is opened up, any of us are able and obligated to answer it as quickly and correctly as possible. I will redirect you back to the original post, just click on the link I have posted below.. so you can continue with the diagnosis with the original tech that answered (Rasmataz is an awesome tech) as I don't want to waste your time telling me the same story and starting over again. Goodluck!
