when I put car in drive it jerks real hard, occasionally feels like car is not getting enough gas. This weekend car went less than 5 miles and starting smoking after changing gear to overdrive and back to drive it eventually picked up speed to regular operation. Transmission fluid ok and no sign of fluid leaking. Could you tell me what to look for.

What color was the smoke ? If it was black ckeck the fuel system. It could be a bad pressure regilator or your intake flap may have carbon build up. Even may be a vacume leak.

Yes this is a 3.8L v-6 is there a reason you asked. I went back and checked the fluids and the antifreeze was bone dry, do you still think it could be a blown head gasket?

[quote:5dc32664b7="justanold"]HELLO! What you describe is a blown head gasket. would this happen to be a 3.8L V-6? Major repair so call around for prices. don't put this off as it can ruin your engine. replace both gaskets. 8) 8) 8)[/quote:5dc32664b7]

i had the same problem with my old Chevy Lumina. Smoke would start pouring out of the wheel wells and it would stink like nothing else. I'd fill my antifreeze and two days later it'd be bone dry because of the blown head gasket. the mechanic said it was leaking into my oil somehow? I waited too long though to get it fixed, its was beyond repair i geuss.
