1990 Ford Taurus Not starting

Engine Mechanical problem
1990 Ford Taurus 6 cyl

My Ford Taurus SHO will not quit turn over when trying to start it. It has done this once before, but eventually started.I'm worried about ruining the starter by trying so much. Could it be bad gas or maybe my fuel filter or fuel pump. Thanks.

When you turn key to run -do you hear the fuel pump come On?

Have helper put key at run position-go underneath it and listen to a buzzing noise in the fuel tank
