2001 Ford Ranger four wheel drive

just recently the four wheel drive wont ingage when the truck is cold,but when i warm it up i hear the relay behind the glove box click,then it will engage.strange...maybe a problem with the relay or whetever i hear clicking?

I would start by replacing the relay behind the glove box. It could be going bad, and it is a cheap part. If that doesn't help, I need you to check to see if the actuator on the side of the transfer case is getting power.

it was the shift control module, found it on ebay cost 135 bucks w/shipping....problem solved...
