2001 Ford Ranger 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive 117000 miles

I just bought my 2001 ranger xlt. The daylight running lights blink. There is a theft light on the dash. What would cause this and how can I fix this problem? I have a 3.0litre engine with a 5 speed tranny

The marker lights are on the anti theft system circuit. Which is controlled by the central security module under the dash. Have your cars computer read for faults in the theft system. This will identify where the problem is actually located.
