About two weeks I noticed my engine temp gauge running hotter than normal. I turned my heat on high and it went down to what it normally runs. Ever since then the engine temp gauge will runnin way up there, then drop way down. It will runnin in the red for a few seconds before going down to normal. I ask a friend and he said it sounded like the thermostat was sticking. Does this sound correct or could the cause be something worse? Radiotor levels are full. And the oil was recently changed.

Sounds like the thermostat is sticking if its shut closed completely it will cause the engine to overheat then there goes a major problem. this guide will help walk you through the repair with instructions for your truck in the diagrams below.
