Recently, while driving my '99 Ranger XLT, the ABS, Check Engine, and O/D lights came on (with the O/D blinking, not constant). In addition, the speedometer and odometer ceased to function, and the engine was struggling at higher speeds. After some investigation, I hypothesized that my speed sensor was malfunctioning, and subsequently installed a new speed sensor.
Since the change, the warning lights have gone off, but the problem with the speedometer, odometer, and performance persists.
At this point, I'm a bit flustered. I'd like to take care of the problem myself (if possible), and my questions are:
1. Did I make a mistake of some kind?
2. What else could the problem be?
3. What else could be done by me (a layman), if anything?
