WHILE DRIVING, MY HUSBANDS TRUCK IS ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN AND HE HAS TO USE THE BRAKE TO STOP IT. DANGEROUS, JUST STARTED YESTERDAY. THERE IS NO CRUISE CONTROL. WHAT CAN BE CAUSING THIS?

ACTUALLY WHEN THE TRUCK HAS BEEN ACCELERATED AND THE PEDAL IS LET OFF OF, IT SOMETIMES IS STAYING (STICKING). IT DOESN'T INCREASE IN ACCELERATION, IT STICKS.

If thats the case then you should first be checking the throttle linkage and cable to see that it is not hanging up on anything.

If that is cleaner clean out the throttle body and spray the moving parts with wd-40. Avoid spraying electrical components.
