Brakes problem

On my 99 ford ranger (94000 miles). The battery light came on, then 10 min later went off and the ABS light came on. 10 min later the car woudn't barely move and then died. Two (2) hours later, the battery had charged enough to start the vehicle, but it still wouldn't drive very fast or far and the blinker or lights wouldn't work.
Do you have any idea what is wrong?
