I have a Ranger that when it's cold the tranny hesitates. It has done it in drive and reverse. It only does it at first start. I have replaced the filter and new fluid. Thanks JIM

When you say hesitates, do you mean when being placed in gear or between shifts?

If there is a delay when shifting into gear, chances are the o-rings / seals are getting hard in the valve body. Try using an additive that is designed to soften them to see if there is improvement.

What name additive would you suggest? I've put one can in about 2 months ago ( can't remember the name). Would you suggest draining the fluid and putting in new with the new additive?

If you are able to draw some of the ATF through the filler tube, that would be good. You don't want it overfilled.

As far as brands, I'm not allowed to make such recommendations because people then think we are making money from manufacturers and we're not. Just ask at a parts store for a trans additive that will soften and restore dry or hard seals and o-rings. I can't guarantee it will fix it, but it is a cheap way to start trying.
