Just replaced the head gasket do to engine temp gauge fluctuating. That problem is fixed, but now when I go to start it up when it's cold and it runs like a top. After it warms up I can here a knocking noise sounds like a rod bearing. It only knocks at an idle though.Step on the gas and it goes away. I know it's not a lifter. What do you think?

Did you have any coolant in the oil? Have you checked it to make sure now? Is the oil pressure good at an idle?

Let me know.

No coolant in the oil and the oil pressure is good. Never had the knock before my mechanic changed the head gasket. And I also had the heads completely redone.
