1996 Ford Ranger How much life is left in this truck??

I am trying to find a small truck for my son. I found a 96 Ranger with a 3.0 V6/ auto tranny...
it was adult driven and has 200,000 miles...
I dont want to have to put tons of money in it to use it for a while..How much life can i expect?

with 200, 000 miles on it the engine and transmission is well used, check for any ticking or knocking in the engine, If possible have the truck undercarriage checked out, this includes the front end {ball joints, etc} check the exhaust system , have the fluids checked brakes and brake lines. Check the battery and listen to how it starts, the battery is usually the first thing a used vehicle needs. Every vehicle can run over 200,000 if properly maintained. check the maintence record if there is one. If possible drive the truck and question seller on any thing that you feel is not right.
