i have a 95 ford ranger, the truck runs great in 1-3 gears, but beyond that it leaves much to be desired. Any up hill grade the truck falls on its face, usually 3rd gear is best i can do, it has a horrible jerk in 4/5 gear under any type of strain. Although it has plenty of power in lower gears, what would cause it to jerk like that in high gear. I've changed plugs, and wires, I've also been running high test gas w/ Stp fuel system to see if that has an effect, but no luck.

Oxygen sensor
Catalytic converter
Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this).
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)

Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:

Dirty or worn spark plugs
Bad plug wires
Weak ignition coil
Wet plug wires
