The number 3 cylinder is not functioning. It is a California emissions vehicle. Would a faulty EGR valve cause this? It would work some then quit, now it will not work at all.

What do you meant by this-is it firing or what ??? I don't think the EGR valve will cause a cylinder not to function properly

If there's no spark-check the plugwire or swap for a working one and see what happens

I already changed plugs and wires. I also replaced both coil packs, no change.

Check and test the crankshaft positioning sensor in right front of engine bay.

I was misinformed, it is firing, just no compression on the number 3 cylinder.

No compression on no.3 could be valves/rings/cyl wear
