If there is a price difference, then the transmission is different. Are you sure it will work?

Yes, i have completed the install and everything worked out well, i also replaced the clutch, presser plate, throwout bearing and master slave all new from my local auto parts store.

1- 1997 ford ranger 5sp. manual junkyard trans
$197.00 with 30 day warranty.

Note: when at my local parts store they asked for the year of truck i used the year 1989 ford ranger xlt 2.3L and it all worked fine. however i had to use the 1997 stick shifter and the 89 boot.
Note: now use the mercon3 instead of the sae80 as req. for the 97 trans. i guess ill half to remember that when i change the fluid.
~~from my understanding the 1988-99 will work~~
anyone reading this try at your own risk!!
ah and feedback would be cool :)
