If it can start in neutral and not in park as designed-the switch is defective -now if it can start both ways there's no problem.

Would any the signs by chance be the fact that my low gear only works half the time, or would it hurt the acceleration?

The NSS has nothing to do with transmission gears but preventing the vehicle from starting other than Park and Neutral position

Alright thanks. Well it turns out that my switch died so I have to replace it.

Any ideas on what would cause my acceleration from a stop to be so low?
