Hi all. My 289 engine pushes oil out of the oil filler/breather cap on the valve cover. I removed the valve cover to find broken valve stem seals. I replaced the seals yet the problem continues. The engine doesn't smoke from the tail pipe. What causes this problem and what should be done to correct the problem?[/B]

Its blowby. Cylinder compression, is leaking past the rings causing high crankcase pressure, you have to re-ring the motor. Have you check the pcv system, before you have to go through that?

Before you do that check the oil return holes at each end of the head. The oil may be getting up to the valve train but cant return fast enough. You said valve stem seals were found in the area maybe a piece of that is blocking the return passage way. Good luck.
