I have a 1997 Ford laser 1.6L (equivalent of the mazda 323), with just over127000 on it. Recently, everyday when I start the car, a lot of white smoke comes out of the exhaust, but once the car warms up while idling, it goes away. There is no smoke while I'm driving or any other time I start the car except for the first time of the day.

Hi there,

White smoke is a normal sign of coolant in the cylinders, are you having to top up the coolant? I would first get a head check to make sure that there is no head problem, then a cooling system pressure test to check for a leak into the inlet manifold, start here.
