I have a 1990 motorhome which has a 1989 ford 460 with a carb, and the fuel system has a electronic fuel pump. What happens is when I am driving my motor shuts off because I lose fuel.. The first time was when I drove 80 miles and then it lost fuel and then this past time I was only 10 miles out. I am baffled the first time it took 15 mins for me to get it started because I had no fuel going to the carb. The second time it took 2 hrs and once it starts back up it runs great but I take it back home right away no-one has yet to figure out my problem. I replaced the fuel filters and gas cap and have always keep the tank above 1/2. PLEASE HELP !

If the motor home sat for any leanth of time there could be a build up of what they call varnish, it comes from gas sitting for a long time and going bad. You will be able to tell if you remove the gas cap and smell it. Run some fuel system cleaner in it. If you are not using it for a while then add fuel stabilizer. Gas starts to break down after a couple of months. Another reason you might be having this problem is that sometimes when a vehicle sits water vapor gets in the tank. That would be another reason why it runs for a while then stops. Have it checked to see if water is in the tank.

Where I used to work we had a car come in, the fuel guage said it had over half a tank. We found out that it had more than half a tank of water.
