We have a 1982 Ford Midas Class C Motorhome. Two things are happening - the engine has low power and also overheats when driven any distance. The vehicle cannot maintain 55 miles per hour and has great difficulty making it up any size hill. The engine does not overheat when idling.

Have a compression check done on the engine. sounds like there could be a problem with one of the cylinders. If the motor home has overheated to a degree where it can warp the heads. That is why I suggest a compression check. you may have a blown head gasket.
