1979 Other Ford Models 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

With a new, fully charged battery, the engine won't turn over unless a charger is attached. It isn't showing gas in the float bowl window but there is gas in the tank. Does the 79 Courier have an electric fuel pump, and if so would a bad pump cause the problem? If I pour a little gas in the carb while the charger is hooked up it will start & run for a few seconds. ?

Sounds like yo might have abad starter. You can taek it to an auto parts store and they cna check to see if it's good. Of course that is assuming your battery is good. I don't think that couriers have electric fuel pumps, been a long time for me and I don't remember. But sounds like the pump is bad or fuel filter is clogged.
